You could do a smaller rug with a finer needle (like the Boye hooks). I've been thinking of doing two small rugs to hang next to my vegetable rug in the kitchen -- with maybe one vegetable in each (like an artichoke or something). Mcadoo rugs has nice chairpads, which have interesting designs on them, too. I say go for it.
